INDEPENDENT FINANCIAL EXPERTS NEEDED FOR DELTA SCHOOL DISTRICT AUDIT COMMITTEE

The Delta School District invites interested individuals to serve on the School District Audit Committee in the capacity of an independent, financial expert.

We are seeking to fill two (2) positions on the Audit Committee effective September 1, 2019.

The Audit Committee will assist the Board of Education in its governance role by providing oversight of the financial reporting processes, the audit process, the system of internal controls and compliance with laws and regulations.

The Audit Committee is comprised of three Trustees of the Board of Education and two members of the public who have experience with financial matters or other relevant expertise and are independent from and external to the organization.

The members of the public are appointed for a term of two years. Ex-Officio, non-voting members of the Audit Committee consist of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and the Secretary Treasurer and the Director of Finance and Management Services.

The Committee will meet at least three times a year, with authority to convene additional meetings, as circumstances require. Meetings are typically held in the evening. Remuneration is $250 for a full day or $125 for a half day. Incidental expenses (mileage, etc.) will be reimbursed.

To be considered for this opportunity you will be an experienced CPA or have financial management or other relevant business experience that will enable you to understand the accounting and auditing standards applicable to the School District for this position.
